Postal-place testing - limited source coverage

Japan Address Generator

Japan-format test addresses retaining the source prefecture, municipality or district, and postal locality separately. A synthetic block/building line is added to a seven-digit postcode without inventing a Western street name.

GeoNames postal-place sample with a synthetic street. Limited source coverage; not delivery-verified.

Japan Address Format

The generated layout is a romanized, small-to-large testing representation: synthetic block/building line, postal locality, source municipality or district and prefecture, then NNN-NNNN postcode. Japanese domestic writing can use the reverse order. The tool does not claim that romanized source labels are authoritative Japanese-script address strings.

The three generated number groups are fictional test components, not verified chome, block or building identifiers. GeoNames second-level labels can describe a city or a gun district, so the tool does not call every such label a municipality. Postal localities are retained separately; malformed source labels beginning with an operator are excluded. Organization-specific codes and historical labels may appear in the source, and no residential deliverability claim is made.

Counts describe this imported subset, not a national completeness percentage. A locality label may occur in more than one source group. Exact duplicates are removed; unsupported or inconsistent records are omitted, not repaired with guessed geography.

Japan Form-Testing Cases

Japan-facing applications often need separate prefecture, municipality, town and building fields. These fixtures test that hierarchy and the postcode hyphen. They do not replace Japanese-script test cases or prove that an address parser correctly handles every domestic convention. A US-style street-name requirement should not be imposed on all Japanese records.

Generated records are for development, QA and demonstrations. They must not be used for mail delivery, identity checks, account verification or proof of residence. A synthetic result can coincidentally resemble an existing address; it is not guaranteed to be nonexistent.

Data and Attribution

Geographic data: GeoNames JP postal export, reused under CC BY 4.0. Downloaded 2026-09-05. The source provides no guarantee of accuracy, timeliness or completeness.

Postal-place relationships are retained from individual source rows, without mixing localities and codes independently. Coordinates, population figures and unrelated gazetteer fields are not included in the browser data.

Japan Address FAQ

Are the three number groups real Japanese block identifiers?

No. They are synthetic values for a block/building-shaped test line. The source supports the postal locality and postcode relationship, not those building-level numbers.
