Canada - limited FSA and municipality coverage

Canada Address Generator

Canada FSA Coverage

The browser dataset keeps GeoNames municipality, province and Forward Sortation Area relationships together. It retains only rows with an explicit source municipality, instead of converting broad postal-area descriptions into guessed city names.

Known boundary: this is a limited GeoNames municipality subset, not the Canada Post Postal Code Address Data product. Territories and source rows without a municipality are not included in this release.

Canadian Address and Postal Code Format

Canada Post places the civic address above a final line containing the municipality, province abbreviation and postal code. The postal code uses the ANA NAN pattern, with one space between the FSA and Local Delivery Unit.

CANADA
  • Civic line: synthetic number, test street name and street type
  • Municipality, province and FSA: kept together from one source row
  • Final three postal characters: synthetic and unverified

See the official Canada Post guidance for the civic address layout and postal code structure.

Matched FSA Geography and Synthetic Test Fields

Source geography and generated fields are deliberately separated. This keeps the result useful for Canadian form layouts without representing it as an assigned or deliverable postal address.

GeoNames source data

  • Municipality
  • Province and abbreviation
  • Three-character FSA prefix

Synthetic test data

  • Civic number and street
  • Three-character LDU-shaped suffix
  • Complete formatted record

Why the Postal Code Is Marked Unverified

The free GeoNames file supplies FSA prefixes, not Canada Post's complete six-character postal-code directory. The generator adds a format-shaped suffix using the permitted letter set, but it does not claim that the resulting code is assigned to the selected street or accepted for delivery.

A generated combination may coincidentally resemble an assigned code or address. Do not use it for mailing, identity checks, KYC bypass, account verification or proof of residence.

Testing Uses

Canadian test addresses can exercise province selectors, municipality fields, uppercase postal-code validation, spacing rules, imports, exports and checkout layouts. The tool is intended for development, QA, database fixtures and demos.

It is not an address lookup or validation service. A real application that needs deliverability must use an authorized postal-data or address-validation provider.

Canada Data Source

Municipality, province and FSA relationships come from a prepared local copy of the GeoNames Canada postal export under CC BY 4.0. The reproducible build validates the FSA pattern, removes duplicates and broad rows without a source municipality, omits coordinates and verifies that all 10 provinces remain represented.

Canada Address Generator FAQ

What does the Canada address generator create?

It combines a synthetic civic street line with a municipality, province and three-character Forward Sortation Area from one prepared GeoNames row. The final three postal-code characters are synthetic and are not Canada Post assigned or verified.

Are the generated Canadian postal codes real?

The first three characters are a source FSA prefix. The Local Delivery Unit suffix is generated only to exercise the ANA NAN field pattern, so the complete six-character code must be treated as unverified test data.

Which parts of Canada are covered?

This limited release includes GeoNames rows that provide a source municipality across Canada's 10 provinces. Rows without a municipality and the three territories are excluded rather than assigned a guessed city.

Can I choose a province and municipality?

Yes. Choose a covered province, then optionally narrow the generator to a municipality available in that province. The selected municipality, province and FSA remain together.

Can I export Canadian test addresses?

Yes. Generate 1, 5, 10, 25 or 50 records, then copy, save or download them as CSV or JSON. The export separates the complete test postal code from its source FSA prefix.

Can these addresses be used to receive mail or prove residence?

No. They are synthetic testing records, not verified delivery addresses, identity evidence, account-verification records or proof of residence.
