France - La Poste routing and INSEE geography
France Address Generator
Generate French-format test addresses with a five-digit postcode, official routing label, matched region and department, and a deliberately synthetic street. Filter the source geography or create up to 50 records for development, QA and form testing.

France Postal Coverage
The browser dataset joins La Poste HexaSmal delivery labels to the 2026 INSEE Code officiel géographique. Each public row keeps its postcode, routing label, optional line 5, commune, department and region relationship together.
- Postal rows
- 38,925
- Unique postcodes
- 6,187
- Regions / departments
- 18 / 101
Coverage includes metropolitan France and the five overseas departments and regions. The 267 source rows outside that COG boundary, including overseas collectivities and Monaco, are excluded instead of being assigned guessed geography.
French Test Address Format
French postal lines place the postcode before the uppercase delivery locality. Some La Poste records also contain an optional line 5, often used to refine routing below the street line. The generator preserves that value only when the selected row has it.
42 RUE DU TEST LES MILLES 13290 AIX EN PROVENCE FRANCE
- Street: uppercase synthetic house number and test phrase
- Line 5: optional La Poste routing value
- Postcode and locality: retained from one HexaSmal row
- Country line: uppercase FRANCE
The line order follows the addressing principles documented by the Universal Postal Union for France. This tool creates testing fixtures and does not perform postal validation.
Region and Department Filters
Select a region first, then a department, then a delivery locality. Department codes remain strings so values such as 01, 2A, 971 and976 are preserved. The visible address uses the postal routing label; region, department and commune are also included in detailed results and exports.
Source Geography and Synthetic Street Data
Public geographic fields and generated fields are kept separate. This gives test data a realistic administrative and postal structure without packaging a resident or deliverable street-address directory.
Matched source data
- Postcode and delivery locality
- Optional La Poste line 5
- INSEE commune, department and region
Synthetic test data
- House number from 1 to 299
- Obvious test street phrase
- Complete formatted record
Synthetic French Street Rules
Street lines use familiar French route types such as RUE,AVENUE, BOULEVARD and PLACE, combined with conspicuous test stems such as DU TEST and DE L EXEMPLE. They remain uppercase ASCII to exercise common form constraints without copying real road names. A random combination may still resemble a real address by coincidence.
Testing Uses and Limits
French test addresses can exercise checkout forms, regional selectors, postcode validation, line wrapping, database fixtures and CSV or JSON imports. Postcodes and administrative codes stay as text, which prevents leading zeroes from disappearing.
Do not use generated records to receive mail, bypass identity checks, impersonate a person, verify an account or claim residence. The tool creates no person name, phone, email, coordinates or identity profile.
France Data Sources
Postal routing rows come from the La Poste HexaSmal open dataset. Commune, department and region relationships come from the INSEE 2026 official geographic code. The reproducible build validates exact source counts and hashes before writing the smaller browser file under France's Open Licence terms.

A matched postcode and locality do not make the synthetic street deliverable. CEDEX, BP, organization names and recipient identities are outside this release. Confirm any production address through an appropriate postal-validation provider rather than treating generated output as verified customer data.
France Address Generator FAQ
What does the France address generator create?
It combines one La Poste postcode and routing-label row with its matched INSEE region, department and commune, then adds a synthetic uppercase street line. The complete result is intended for software testing, not postal delivery.
Can I choose a French region and department?
Yes. Choose one of 18 regions, then a department, then an available delivery locality. The generator keeps all selected geographic fields on the same prepared source row.
Why can address line 5 appear in some results?
La Poste HexaSmal includes an optional Ligne 5 value for some routing records. When present, the generator preserves it between the synthetic street and the postcode/locality line.
Does the generator include overseas France?
It includes metropolitan France and the five overseas departments and regions in the INSEE 2026 geography. Overseas collectivities and Monaco are excluded from this release.
Are CEDEX and business-mail addresses included?
No. This release uses HexaSmal routing rows and does not claim CEDEX, BP, business-recipient or street-directory coverage.
Can I use a generated address as proof of residence?
No. Results are synthetic test records. They are not verified delivery addresses, identity evidence, account-verification records or proof of residence.
